Sandy Straights Marina 13th November

The weather forecast is not good, rain and thunderstorms for the next few days, so we have decided to text train up Townsville on Monday night, to pick the car up and catch up with friends.

I belong to face book group call Women Who Sail which is a very supportive group of women who I can turn to for advice, that occasionally give some of my own. In A few weeks after I joined a by herself woman with a boat on the hard was asking for help two anti foul her hull. It was going to cost $5000 to have someone do it for.  Not only did she get offers of help you manage to raise the $5000 in two weeks together, which is pretty impressive.

I saw on the Facebook page a few of us were getting together for dinner so David and I, Paul Kathy joined them last night. They were 20 of us altogether and it was an interesting mix of very experienced sailors, and some who had only just started.

We had a great time swapping experiences and hearing advice about the next part of our passage. A few yachts will be going down to Mooloolaba so look forward to catching up with them there.

The day we arrived I saw the biggest turtle I have ever sedately swimming down the middle of the channel. I have  since seen him every day, apparently he lives here. How he has survived so long I really don’t know, as there are so many boats zipping up and down the channel all day. I managed to get a photo of him this morning.
